How We Stopped Being "Just Roommates" and Actually Started Dating Again (Without Leaving the Couch).

Okay, real talk for a second.
Have you ever looked over at your partner on the couch and realized you haven’t actually talked—like, really talked—in like… three weeks?
That was me and Mark last month. We’ve been together for four years, and honestly? We’d hit the "roommate phase" hard. Our daily convo was basically just a loop of:
"What do you want for dinner?"
"I don't know, what do you want?"
"Did you remember to feed the dog?"
"Yeah. You seen the remote?"
Riveting stuff, right? 🙄
We’d spend every night sitting three feet apart, both scrolling TikTok until our thumbs hurt, with the TV just playing background noise. I missed us. But the idea of getting dressed up and spending $100 on a "date night" just to talk about work felt exhausting.

The "Aha" Moment (or, how I got suckered by an ad lol)
I was literally searching for couple games or something to do besides another Netflix binge when I found this app.
I’m usually super skeptical about "relationship" apps. I thought it’d be all cringey "live, laugh, love" stuff or those awkward therapy questions that make you want to crawl into a hole. But I was bored, it was free to try, so I was like... fine, let’s see.
I told Mark, "Hey, put your phone down for five minutes, I want to try this thing." He gave me the classic eye-roll, but he hopped on.
It wasn’t actually awkward?
We started with some of the "Never Have I Ever" style stuff and some weirdly specific "would you rather" questions.
Within ten minutes, we weren’t just "co-existing"—we were actually laughing. Like, ugly-laughing. I found out he once tried to start a pet-sitting business for hamsters when he was ten. How did I not know this?!
It’s crazy how you can live with someone for years and still not know the weird little details of their brain.
Why this hit different:
Zero Pressure: You don't have to be "deep" if you don't want to. Some nights we do the spicy/flirty stuff, other nights we just play the trivia games because we’re both competitive as hell.
The "Couch Date" is Real: We stayed in our sweats. No reservations needed.
It Fixed the Silence: You know that weird silence when you’ve got nothing left to say? The app basically acts as the "spark" so you don’t have to do the heavy lifting.
The Verdict
Tbh, I didn't think a couple game on my phone would actually change the vibe in our house, but it kinda did. We started looking forward to that 15-minute window before bed where we just... play. It’s a lot harder to feel like "just roommates" when you’re actually having fun together.
If you feel like you’re stuck in that boring routine loop, seriously, just try it. It’s way cheaper than therapy and way more fun than scrolling through your ex’s Instagram for the tenth time tonight.
Stop scrolling and actually talk to your person lol. Link is below if you want to check it out.
