We Deleted Netflix for a Week and Replaced It with This App. Here’s What Happened to Our Relationship

Let’s be real for a second—how many nights a week do you and your partner spend
just... staring at the TV?
For me and Josh, it had become a total routine. We’d get home, order Thai food,
and spend forty-five minutes scrolling through Netflix just to settle on a show
we’ve already seen. We were "together," but we weren't really together, you
know? We were just two people sharing a couch and a bag of popcorn in total
silence.
Last Tuesday, I hit a breaking point. I was bored. I started googling stuff like
"love tests" and "how to tell if you’re in a relationship rut" (dramatic, I
know, but I was in my feels). I found a bunch of those cheesy BuzzFeed quizzes,
but then I stumbled onto something called "Couple Games".
I made a joke to Josh: "What if we delete Netflix for a week and just use this
app instead?"
He thought I was kidding. I wasn't. I literally deleted the app from the smart
TV right then. He looked at me like I had three heads, but he agreed to try it.
Day 1: The "This is Awkward" Phase
The first night was weird. No background noise. Just us. We opened the app and
started with some of the basic love tests and compatibility quizzes.
I’m gonna be honest—I thought I knew everything about this man. We’ve been
together for three years! But the app asked this question: "What is your
partner’s biggest irrational fear?"
I said spiders. Turns out? It’s actually escalators. Specifically, his shoelace
getting caught in one. We spent thirty minutes laughing about a trauma I didn't
even know he had. It was the most we’d talked on a Tuesday night in months.
Day 2 & 3: It Got... Spicy?
Once we got past the "getting to know you" stuff, we started hitting the "Couple
Games" section. There are these prompts that are kind of like "Would You Rather"
but specifically for relationships.
Some of them were lighthearted, but some actually made us talk about stuff we
usually brush under the rug. It wasn't like a heavy therapy session or anything,
it just felt like a game. It took the pressure off.
Also, can we talk about the "spicy" challenges? 🌶️ I’m not gonna give you guys
all the tea, but let’s just say the app definitely knows how to turn up the
heat. It felt like we were in the honeymoon phase again.
The Turning Point
By Thursday, I didn't even miss the Netflix "Are you still watching?" pop-up.
The coolest part about this app compared to those random love tests you find
online is that it actually saves your progress. It builds a "relationship
profile" for you. We found out that our communication styles are actually super
different—I’m a "talk it out immediately" person and he’s a "let me process this
for an hour" person.
Seeing it laid out in a game format made it click. Like, oh, he’s not ignoring
me, he’s just "processing." lol.
The Verdict: Did We Re-install Netflix?
So, the week is over. Did we put Netflix back?
Yeah, we did. I need my true crime documentaries, guys. I'm not a saint.
BUT, the rule has changed. We now have "App Nights" three times a week. No
phones (except for the app), no TV, no distractions.
Honestly, if you feel like you and your partner are just "roommating" right now,
you need to download "Couple Games". It’s way better than scrolling TikTok next to
each other in the dark. It actually reminded me why I fell in love with this
dork in the first place.
If you want to see how you score on the love tests or just want to stop being
bored with your person, you can grab the app here:

Seriously, try it for one night. If you don't end up laughing until your stomach
hurts, you’re doing it wrong.
